Are you interested in the difference between the BioMat and PEMF mats? Last week, we compared the BioMat to red light therapy and we get asked a lot about PEMF mats, so this week we will share our thoughts.
First, PEMF stands for Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field (PEMF) therapy. Over active coils, it emits low-frequency magnetic pulses. This interacts with the body’s cells and electrical activity for cellular energy, recovery, circulation, inflammation support and bone healing potential. Although not easily felt, the pulses touch the skin and into the tissues, which stimulates cellular repair and regeneration. A non-invasive therapy, it can be administered in-office or at home.
In contrast, the Richway bio-mat doesn’t have active PEMF coils. It uses far infrared heat, amethyst and tourmaline crystals, and negative ions to create warmth and ionization. This chart summarizes the two therapies:
| THE PRODUCT | The BioMat | PEMF mat |
| Elements | Far infrared heat therapy + negative ions + crystals (amethyst and tourmaline) | Non-thermal magnetic stimulation |
| Benefits | Gently warms the body vis-à-vis deep penetrating heat.
Negative ions support relaxation and stress reduction. Circulation enhancement. |
Interacts with the body’s cells and electrical activity.
Used for cellular energy and wellness, recovery, circulation, inflammation support and bone healing potential. |
| Feelings | Far infrared heat deeply penetrates and stimulates circulatory/lymphatic systems.
Detoxes, reduces inflammation and helps with pain relief.
|
You likely don’t feel anything except perhaps a mild sensation and/or relaxation over time.
It is more about deep physiological effects rather than the healing effects of heat. |
| Core Mechanism | Infrared heat + healing materials (crystals and negative ions) | PEMF coils |
| Treatment Length | 15-30+ minutes and can build time/temperature to eventually sleep on the mat | 15-30 minutes; multiple sessions are required to achieve optimal results |
In short, the two products do not use the same technology. Depending on your health objectives, it is vital to learn about the differences between these two products. As they say, not all products are created equal!
