We frequently get asked about the differences between the BioMat and red light therapy. So, that is what this blog post is about.
First, let’s define the light spectrum as this is helpful and relevant to this discussion. Energy travels in waves and the light spectrum is the full range of many types of electromagnetic radiation.
The full electromagnetic spectrum from low to high energy is radio waves, microwaves, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet (UV), x-rays and gamma rays. From radio waves to gamma rays, wavelengths get shorter, frequencies get higher and energies increase.
The part that humans can see is called visible light and it includes the colors violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. (The colors range in wavelengths with violet being the longest wavelength to red, the shortest wavelength.)
With that foundation, red light therapy is obviously red and it operates at the shortest end of the visible light spectrum. Its primary therapeutic benefit is provide superficial low-grade warmth and light to skin health. As it is only topical, the light/heat is not felt deeply and it doesn’t penetrate deep into the body.
In comparison and contrast, the bio-mat is in the infrared portion of the invisible light spectrum (it is right next to the color red on the visible scale). The Richway BioMat provides very different benefits than red light therapy. Far infrared heat is deep penetrating heat which creates long-lasting effects, such as stimulating both the lymphatic and circulatory systems, as well as helping with detoxing, reducing inflammation and reliving pain.
Here is a chart summarizing the differences:
| PRODUCT | The BioMat | Red Light Therapy |
| ELEMENTS | Heat that penetrates deeply | Superficial low-grade warmth and light |
| BENEFITS | Stimulates circulatory and lymphatic systems.
Detoxification, reduce inflammation and pain relief. |
Topical for skin health |
