In this blog post, we are continuing the discussion of the BioMat and contraindications. (For additional information on this topic, please also see last week’s post.)
If you have difficulty moving or changing positions while seated or in bed, use the Richway BioMat with low heat (95-104F) or negative ions only, and for no more than eight hours per day.
Also, if you are at high risk for bed sores (pressure sores) and/or low heat burn, use the bio-mat with low heat only (95-104F) or negative ions only, for no more than eight hours per day. This can include people with generally poor health or weakness, paralysis, injuries, sedation, coma or illnesses that requires bed rest or wheelchair use.
For internal pacemakers/defibrillators, we recommend consulting with your physician before using the bio-mat. (In general, infrared heating pads have not been shown to interfere or damage pacemakers/defibrillators. However, there may be a small chance of causing occasional interference.) We recommend anyone who has a pacemaker and/or defibrillator to use the bio-mat on low heat only (95-113F). As the BioMat increases blood circulation, this can cause an increase in heartbeats. (Some people who have a pacemaker, experience discomfort since their heartbeat is being controlled. If you experience discomfort, discontinue BioMat usage immediately and seek medical attention.) If you have a defibrillator, do not lay the BioMat directly over your device.
For certain ailments, we recommend using the BioMat on low heat (95–113F) or negative ions only. It is inadvisable to raise the core temperature to high levels of persons with the following conditions: Adrenal insufficiency and/or suppression disorders, Addison’s Disease, Systematic Lupus Erythematosus and Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
We have more to share on this important topic of contraindications and the BioMat so be sure to watch for next week’s blog post. And if you have questions in the meantime, please reach out to us…
