As promised from last week’s blog post, here’s more advanced information about BioMat knock-offs.

While it is relatively easy to copy the look of a product, the actual overall quality, functuality and effectiveness of the copied final product may be very compromised.

Many of the knock-off competitors claim to be registered with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but upon researching the FDA’s database, many distributors have lied and are not registered at all. It is important to realize to be completely compliant with the FDA as a distributor of a medical device, the manufacturer and importer/distributor of the product must be registered with the FDA. The parties must be listed as such. While some manufacturers of knock-off heating pads are registered with the FDA, the importer/distributor and entity handling quality control are usually not registered. This further proves that they are not involved in the manufacturing of their products. Richway continues to be compliant with its FDA registration.

With regard to research, the BioMat has been included in several studies, specifically studying far infrared heat and thermo-therapy. The studies highlight the far infrared heat and negative ion benefits, and positive results. While the knock-off companies may quote these research studies and findings, the research results are not about these copied knock-off heating pads.

Further, the knock-off products have not undergone rigorous testing and do not have certifications to prove safety and efficacy. On the other hand, bio-mats are properly registered as a medical device with the US FDA, South Korean FDA, and Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Agency of Japan. To secure all three of these registrations, the BioMat undergoes on-going regular and extensive testing for efficacy and safety.
